Welcoming Harry Kirschner

I’ve had the privilege of working with health systems my entire career.

In my work bag, I keep the junior hospital volunteer pin I received back in high school as a daily reminder of the impact health systems have on our communities. Hospitals are often the final safety net during our most vulnerable moments and many of our most formative life moments happen within their four walls. Thankfully at the core of this system we have great clinicians and administrators; heroes that dedicate their lives to helping others.

Early in my journey in healthcare, one of these clinicians encouraged me to focus my work on IT. He had conviction that well deployed technology would ultimately free him and other clinicians from the administrative burdens that limited their time with patients. While I think he was right, so far, technology in healthcare hasn’t always delivered on this promise. Unfortunately, it often adds new burdens and costs to the growing pile of challenges faced by providers.

As I sought the next step in my career, I wanted to be part of a team that could finally make the benefits of IT a reality for health system employees. Contrary to prior technology trends, healthcare is actually adopting AI faster than any other industry. Yet every time I speak with my friends in healthcare administration, they often share disappointment about the hype and hard lessons learned from early AI deployments with legacy IT partners, new point solutions, and internal deployments using “off the shelf” foundational models. We need to do better. We have to do better.

Why Luminai

I joined Luminai because I met a team of proven technologists, paired with healthcare industry veterans, who seek to change the game and are already making it happen.

At Luminai:

  • Impact is measured in weeks not months
  • We balance the speed of deploying “products” for proven use cases with the customization required to accommodate each health system’s uniqueness
  • End to end automation is achieved with full transparency into workflows and decision execution and with humans “in the loop” until they are confident that platform delivers the quality outcomes required to achieve true scale
  • We are true partners to health systems; teaching them how to deploy AI quickly, in a cost effective manner, and balancing the reality that health systems ultimately need to own the keys and drive use cases forward independently

Perhaps most importantly, I’ve joined a great group of humans who really care about making a difference and have the unique expertise to change the status quo. They’ve proven it can be done better and are passionate about scaling impact.

I’m excited to continue learning more about what it takes to deploy AI effectively and become an educational resource to my friends in industry. Please reach out so we can share insights and grow together. It will be fun to finally see the promise of technology optimization become reality.
